  • Is religion a fad gone by

In this day and age in the UK are we abandoning religion and replacing it with our own worship of sex, drugs and rock n roll? It seems every corner turned you can be sure to see either the stray fifty year old alcoholic chuckling to himself at 10am, or a bunch of students finding a trolley and throwing it into bushes or the most common thing is the adverts, all assosciated with looks - sex sells apparently. When in the past hundred years did people give up on hope and faith and trade it all for the complete opposite. Every girl knows that young twenty something men are simply after bedroom naughtiness, and yet they fall in love, have sex, and end up heartbroken. Are we our own destruction? And if so, how do we correct this mess? I remember one person telling me that on an important document concerning households JEDI is considered a religion. Enough people wrote JedI on enough forms to actually make it a religion, even though it is obviously not real. So the majority of under 40 year olds seem to live their lives, when something goes wrong they go out get drunk and find someone new to sleep with. It seems to me that religion acts as the good conscience of us all, if you don’t believe in it at all then surely you go down a very slippery slope, and it seems that everyone no longer respects each other, unless you are a male player. It seems that wars are caused and about religion, e.g terrorist attacks and then making out we’re in a holy war but the truth is we’ve all lost our faith in the west, so that declaration simply doesn’t work. Is religion a fad that is simply passing us by, and the new religon, sex drugs and rock n roll, is it really the path humans should take, eleven year olds having babies, free abortions without the guy ever knowing, and the majority of the UK being on anti depressants because they have lost their hope? I think I might go to a Church Sunday, I still have hope that there’s more to life than this, and if not I’m going to live it right with the least amount of heart ache as possible, I still have some sort of faith, in something spiritual, and in mankind one day getting things right and peaceful in the future.

  • Panic!

As a young twenty something I can’t help but notice the amount of pressure and anxiety that is plunged on top of our shoulders day in and day out. University has been and gone, leaving with a successful degree and amount of work experience, and yet it seems that it is all about who you know, not what you know in the working industry. Soon enough you’re working full time in McDonalds juust to get by, and don’t have the time for any free work, and that’s when it kicks in. Anxiety, Panic Attacks. We are made to believe that these are the best years of our lives, yet why are so many of us suffering with these panic attacks. The harder you work, the more you realise your dream isn’t coming true and so you have another panic attack. The longer this goes on for, the more you suffer. Why are we promised things as children only to be deeply disappointed in the future? None of us are really prepared for working environments, and all of us are anxious, anxious for their dream job, or atleast to satisfy what they studied for, anxious to find that one dream partner, and anxious to live on their own independently, will the anxiety cease if you get these three thing. Maybe the key is simply to not be alone, no matter what hardships you face you always have a friend who will listen, someone there to lean on, just a friend, or more. Maybe we’re all focusing so hard to be independent we’re denying ourselves the need to have one other person to talk to.

  • Whilst Watching Shooting Stars

I am one of those people that looks up at the stars and imagines what the world used to be like, the amount of people that have stared up at the stars and thought the same things, and made the same wishes on shooting stars. Not many people see shooting stars, it's the prettiest thing, all you have to do is stare up for a while and if you're lucky you might see them. And these stars seem to make things happen, whether its just the wish you made and you feel more motivated to accomplish it or whether they're magic is something i could never know, i recon they're magical though. They inspire people, seeing them shoot as fast as lightning across the sky in a blue blur. They certainly inspired me. So when people are finding things hard in life, stuck with a problem, look up at the clear starry sky, and just watch, and when you see it, you'll feel so much better. The most romantic thing i nthe world i have ever done with a guy has to be staring up and watching the stars on a beach, watching for that one lush shooting star. Nothing is more romantic.

Once i've looked up at the sky i begin to wonder, what else is there in this universe. It's so big. And we are just a tiny speck. Humans seem to have this whole thing where we are just evil, power is all people ever want, money is power, etc etc, it's a shame, i can't help but wonder if there's another race out there that might one day teach humans how to be equals, rather than killing each other with stupid wars that are in the end meaningless and fake (eg this war in iraq - lol...hello americans are after oil, i dunno why we british got stuck in wish we hadn't........the next thing that will happen is that the forces will move over into iran - i believe iran has more oil don't they.) Governments wants power, they try to keep people scared....and its worked. we do whatever they say, to the point where people will allow the government to bug them like dogs have those special chips. It's so sad the way the world is, if only there was something else out there. So i'll continue to look up at the stars and let my imagination fly freely, staring up at the stars makes eevrything so much better.

  • Girls, Shoes and Denial

Being a shoe shop assistant in Cardiff, I have noticed that the majority of women seem to be in denial about their shoe size.

On average I would say that size 7 is the most popular shoe size followed by size 5.

However women seem to always ask for a smaller size, because they're shy about having "bigger" feet than everyone else, when in fact, they're average.

In a society where every media image is encouraging teenage girls and mature women to be smaller it seems that women are beginning to deny what they have and try to force themselves into smaller clothes, smaller shoes, anything to look as tiny as possible.

Women have come into the shop and asked for sixes - believing that sevens are too big, and then when their shoes don't fit, they go, oh, well, i guess i need a size up, all shoe sizes are different - as if trying to make excuses to me, a sales assistant. Why should a female sales assistant care if they are a size 7 - it's AVERAGE LADIES! and I must be honest, it is a bit of a waste of time for myself.

So as a big shout out to all ladies out there - a size 7 is average, followed by 5's. Si why are you hiding.

I must say all of you women are lucky you are not Paris Hilton - what is her shoe size....an 11! something like that. It's amazing how people are so highly influenced by media and feel so insecure that they have to lie to a sales assistant about their size - and no this hasn't happened once - this happens every day in any shoe shop, women in denial about being a certain size, they know deep down what their size is.
